One of the first stores is opening here and I think I might go to my interview for it. The thing is, I don't know how to dress, because I don't know the brand. Is it preppy? A little upper class? Luxurious? Thanks.

Oh and sorry... My question was, when you go into the store, are they wearing suits? Or is it preppy clothing? I'm looking at their website and it's hard to distinguish, since they sell suits and preppy clothing, so I wouldn't know what to wear.

J Crew is very preppy

I had a friend who worked there. You'd probably be good wearing dress slacks and a nice button-up shirt.

It's very preppy. If you have an Oxford or something polo wear that for your interview with some nice pants. I'm gonna be needing a discount when you get the job

Remember, it's harder to overdress than it is to underdress.

Thanks, so I'll wear Ralph Lauren to the interview and that should be fine, and I never heard of J Crew until recently but my impression of it was a luxurious brand. Is it popular in the states? Because looking at their ads, so far it looks similar to Club Monaco (Canadian brand)

J. Crew is, from my (somewhat limited) knowledge, popular among the more privileged circles of the Northeast US and New England.

I think they're a pretty successful company. High quality products, not too cheap but not very expensive either. The second pic especially looks like something out of a J Crew ad

J. Crew is very, very preppy. It's something a young librarian would wear. I remember lots of collared shirts and sweater vests last time I went in there.

I'd wear a button down, but fitted with slacks and boat shoes. I think they try to aim to a younger market (late teens to early twenties) and slacks.

Yeah. My older brother pretty much only wears J. Crew and Banana Republic.

Is Banana Republic popular there? I'm not a fan of them, and they're not really big here. I'm a fan of Club Monaco, Ralph Lauren and stuff at Harry Rosen though (just got interviewed this week). My friend use to be a store manager at Banana Republic, but he moved to Coach after. I was kind of shocked to find out Gap, Old Navy and Banana Republic = all one company.

Quite popular with Southern wasps as well.
