Well, scratch Whitney.
You can insert any artist who first hit was their biggest hit, and my point will still remain. RITD doesn't have to overshadow Adele's other song's merit or possible successes. "Someone Like You" is already seeing just as much critical acclaim, so even if it achieves half the commercial success of RITD, it could still be appreciated based on its on merits and successes. And Whitney's follow-up singles to IWALY were not overshadowed was really my point.
You're right... but earlier in this thread... a stan suggested that E.T still has 5 Months more to Out-sell RITD... So
