Radio stations spinning new Kelly Clarkson track
Gossip sites and blogs have been abuzz for a few days about reports of new Kelly Clarkson songs leaking online.
But if radio's playing a song, it's not really a leak.
At least 17 stations -- most notably Top 40 station WDOD-FM (Hits 96) in Chattanooga, Tenn. -- have been playing a new track from Kelly called Let Me Down (which you can hear here).
Hits 96 started playing the song last week, says program director Danny Howard. "We put it on our Hits 96 Battle of the Bands. It won hands down for five nights in a row." At that point, Howard says, the station usually retires a new record or puts it into rotation.
Let Me Down went into regular rotation.
"It's a really good song," Howard says. "It's very strong. It stands out. Kelly's very passionate on the song. I think she kills it."
Howard adds that Kelly's music has always done well for Hits 96 and its AC sister station, WDEF-FM (Sunny 92.3 FM).
"She has an appeal that's probably second to none in the average-girl-turns-into-hero status. All of her things, from the very beginning, have resonated well with our listeners."
Let Me Down enters the American Idol airplay chart at No. 95 this week, but you can bet it'll move up the chart quickly. Kelly's also got the top song on the chart again this week, with her Don't You Wanna Stay duet with Jason Aldean.

I agree. if 17 stations are playing a leak songs it isn't a leak. Rca has the power to pull the song from the radios due to copyright but they aren't. I really think that this is the lead single.
Do you think Let Me Down should be the lead single ? Do you think it confirms that let me down is the lead single ? Do you think it will smash ?
Discuss.
