Excuse my ignorance.. But what does Nostalgia mean?

Basically when you look back at the past and only remember the good stuff, which makes you think it was better than the present. There's a whole movie about that in threatres right now (Midnight in Paris)
The difference between then and now is that while there was some "crap," there were also talented artists behind that "crap." I can only name a few artists today who are genuinely "talented." And if you look at this list, you can tell vocal ability mattered at one time. Now it doesn't.
