This thread makes me realize how much Americans don't learn anything about Canadians at all in school.
And we learn alot about America. I remember having to memorize all 50 states and their capitals, even had to learn the history of presidents, the 13 original states, and bunch of other American history.
***Technically*** Canada's date of independence is April 17, 1982.
July 1, 1867 is the date that the Dominion of Canada came into being, and as the most important date in the history of the Canadian nation, it is the one we celebrate as our national holiday.
