Their MP3 market: cheap MP3, high volume sold. It's something like this:
For $5-6 a month subscription, you can download 40 MP3.
For $9-10 a month subscription, you can download 150 MP3.
As a result, there are around 4-6 million subscribers today in South Korea who pay a monthly fee to download music. And that number is growing.
Assume 5 million subscribers x $8 average a month x 12 months = $480 million. Not bad for a country with 1/7 the population of the United States.
Maybe South Korea will serve as a model for the rest of the music industry.
Their music revenue have been increasing over the last several years while in most markets, revenue have been declining.
