Teen survives second plane crash, lost his mother in first crash now loses father in crash
A 16-year-old promising basketball player is fighting for survival after surviving the second plane crash of his life.
Austin Hatch, 16, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, has been put in a drug-induced coma as he struggles to recover from his injuries. He was in a crash on Friday night that killed his father Dr Stephen Hatch, 46, and his stepmother, Kim.
Terrible twist: Dr Stephen Hatch died in a plane crash on Friday night - eight years after he survived a deadly smash that killed his wife and two children
Austin and his father, who was a pilot, survived another crash in 2003 that killed the boy’s mother, Julie, and his two siblings, Lindsay, 11 and Ian, 5.

David Bojrab, Dr Hatch's close friend and business partner, said: 'His wife and two children were in flames and he was never able to reach them.
'Steve reached over to his son who was sitting in front with him and tossed him out the window to save his life.'
Damn, this is so sad right now Austin (the teen) is the only living family member left and his dog (who also survived, the article didn't mention it but the video did)
Oh my lord. I can't even start to understand the pain that would go through me to know I lost all my family, especially by both accidents involving planes! The sad part is that he is still in a coma, and probably still doesn't know his father is gone.
I would be absolutely terrified of planes at this point if I was him. (I kinda am, and I haven't even been on one before.
Wow.. that is terrible (but good that he survived of course).
I've been on a plane many times and haven't experienced this, and I'm glad I haven't. But wow, having to do it already once I'd probably skip ever taking another flight.
He must be one of the heavily blessed ones.. saved in the first one and second, when both of his parents passed away instead of him. Hopefully he lives a good, long successful life.
I'd never ride a plane if I was AFTER the 1st one.. Hopefully he recovers and can do his daily routine... Imagine the ***** he'll get over this story though?
