I don't really care about her persona as long as I like her music. I don't see why some people here are basically DEMANDING that she adopt a fun, carefree persona. If you want a fun, carefree pop girl, then you don't have to be a fan, there are plenty of "fun" girls to choose from. Of course, unless this is a way of saying you're desperate for a "fun" girl with talent.

I don't really give a **** what the "mainstream" thinks of her. Even if she "flops," as long as she stays true to her artistic vision and continues to do her own thing, she has my respect.

Hey, if she flops, just makes it easier for me to front-row at her shows.

Britney has never been "serious." No shade intended, but Britney's always had this bubbly airhead image to her. In her defense, Britney used to be hardworking. She was able to do that because no one took her seriously, because her image wasn't. Her target audience didn't need her to be serious. I don't get why MTV compared the two.

However, I will say that Gaga may have alienated her fans. The Fame was a fun bubbly era. While she remained artistic, the music wasn't as thought provoking as the image behind it. After that, Gaga managed to merge the two....becoming this artsy persona who has meaning on all fronts.

To be honest I dont care. I listen to underground music, indie music, flop music, pop music, and lots of others. Whatever I can't get from Gaga, I'll look elsewhere. As of now, I think she is doing a good job. I find her music to be a lot of things. Sometimes it is fun, sometimes it is meant to be examined.

I get that it's totally valid to want music that's just about partying and boys boys boys and whatever. But GaGa's not here for that anymore and neither am I. The Fame isn't coming back. Move on with it.

The only way to not "alienate" fans would have been to do the same thing for years and years, the exact opposite of artistry. She lost people at The Fame Monster too. If she's not losing some fans and gaining new ones, she's not doing her job as an artist.
