I was reading some research and it said:

I think its the case when the traits displayed later in life depend on nurture and not on nature. So if for example you were a last-born for 5-10 years and were raised as such, you'll display the traits of last-borns even if you'll have a baby brother/sister after few years. Just my guess though.
