I mean she does care... But shes way too stubborn to do something she doesn't want to.
We all know how shes been in the past few months, shes basically confined to her "Haus Members" now and hardly ever gets help from the outside. These are the same people who heard Born This Way multiple times and never once heard the EY similarities.
She wont change because no one around her is telling her too & Interscope is obviously at her mercy.
The fact that people hilariously draw parallels between Alejandro and La Isla Bonita kinda illustrates that people are always going to be wanting that connection to be made whether it's really there or not.
Whether she wants to actively work to avoid it now would be up to her, but I can see how you might go insane doing that if people still find something to grab on to.
La Isla Bonita and Alejandro and Born This Way and Express Yourself puzzle me.
The bridge of both DITD and BTW is obvious, and I still see where someone could hear EY in FOHL, but so many of these comparisons took effort to make up in the first place.
I never got that one. But then again I just barely hear Express Yourself in Born This Way (atleast no more than I hear the much less cover Waterfalls)
Me neither. *shrug* Certainly nowhere near as much as I hear this song from the 70s in Express Yourself:
I wonder how many people would have made the connection themselves if it hadn't become the popular perception, but that's a moot point because perception largely becomes reality. It is what it is. She can either say "**** it" and not care or have it be something she always keeps in the back of her head.
I never really thought even her image was that reminiscent of Madonna until Telephone, though.
Born This Way and Express Yourself use the same chords (not uncommon in dance music), and are melodically similar at points, such as: I'm beautiful in my way/cause God makes no mistakes --- if you want it right now/make him show you how
As someone who listens to Madonna, I didn't even hear EY when I first listened to BTW. As long as Gaga is a popstar, she will be compared to Madonna. Gaga would pretty much have to drop out of the entertainment industry and snag a job at her local grocery store for the comparisons to end.

I actually hear Madonna over all of the bonus tracks, funnily enough. Far more than in any of her previous material.
Yes, it's all about compromises with you, right? Problem is, Gaga is not used to willingly taking **** from anyone.
Well, I'm sure she's used to taking ****, but she got to a point through collaboration where her risks payed off and now maybe she feels invincible and she doesn't need to listen to any criticisms, which is a very dangerous place to be, even creatively. You should never be beyond being vetoed, certainly not so early in your career.
It's pretty obvious at this point that her chameleonic ways extend far beyond Madonna and everything she did, but she will continue to be compared.
If you mean that Madonna was never this big of an attention ***** and didn't have to resort to wearing a giant tampon on stage, then yes, I agree. Both of them "copied" and took inspiration from a multitude of places. Gaga is still total **** compared to Madonna, musically, performance-wise and in terms of image (Gaga is a mess, Madonna at least kept it together and it had a purpose).
Gaga's fashion that is "Gaga" and doesn't remind me of Madonna (the hairbow, the crystal dresses, the vertiginous heels) is much more fun, surprising and interesting than Madonna's anyway, so idk why she insists on giving off Madonna vibes. She did it better than Madonna during TF/early TFM.

No, he meant that Gaga's drawn influence from a wide array of sources that extend far beyond Madonna, but since she's the most popular, and therefore easiest, comparison to make that's what people will go with. I would say maybe it sucks for her, but too bad, it's the reality of the situation.
I was a bit taken aback at how shook up she came off in that interview regarding the BTW/EY comparisons. You're the biggest pop star in the world -- suck it up and move on, girl. Maybe she was drunk?

You are way ahead of time. In our version of the universe, Madge hasn't even learnt to hold a tune yet.
