What you're forgetting, though, is that Music of the Sun and A Girl Like Me did WAY better than Kiss & Tell and A Year Without Rain. MOTS spawned a top 3 hit single, while K&T only spawned a top 40 single. Yes, both struggled to go Gold, but that's their only similarity. A Girl Like Me then spawned 3 top 10 hits and went Platinum in just 3 months, while A Year Without Rain spawned two low-charting top 40 singles, and struggled to go Gold. When the Sun Goes Down isn't going to have success on A Girl Like Me's level, either. If Selena were going down the same path as Rihanna, she's still in the Music of the Sun stage, and after THREE albums, she can't be if she's going to be going down the same path as Rihanna.
