It's becoming kind of lame to even attack these singles artist. We all know they'll never do good with an album, but slay in singles, which are arguably more important to labels these days.

Really? The label makes more profit from albums then they do from singular tracks.

I disagree. We're in the download era.... all my friends go to concerts, buy merch and download singles of artists but they don't care about buying albums.

People think LMFAO and Pitbull are famous and succesful and they don't have a clue if last Rihanna's album has sold more or less copies than them.

LMFAO and Pitbull aren't anywhere near as famous as Rihanna. And the point is album sales, if you can get them, will always be preferable.

Labels make money out of everything, you just don't know it. You shouldn't.

Of Course, i wasn't comparing them in terms of fame. Rihanna is far from them... what i mean is that people listen to music and don't analyze album or single sales or whatever... that's what we do here....

Their careers are not over while they are selling hits, tickets, and merchandising.

Of course, since albums are clearly more priced than singles. Singles still sell faster, and are an easier profit than albums that struggle to move units these days. And as RudeBoy said, labels make money out of a number of things. An album might sell bad, but the single goes to sell over 4 million copies, people are buying tickets to the shows of these artists, etc. Like I said, it's arguable.

Singles sales aren't more important, not by a long shot. However, labels are taking advantage of these "singles artists" strong points. Singles sales are still profitable. But I'm sure these labels would love those album sales over those singles sales any day of the week, but it's hard for them to get it with some of these artists since album sales are kinda in the dumpster these days. I still wonder why some of these labels do not just release EPs for artists like Taio Cruz, Pitbull, etc... or just release singles instead. Producing albums for these artists who do not sell are surely hurting their pockets some.
