Groupon, Live Nation Bet Discount Tix Will Make Fans Go Gaga With Sharing
Would you tell a friend if you found a $50 Lady Gaga concert ticket for $25? Ok, so GrouponLive is likely to involve far less popular artists, but Groupon and Live Nation are betting you'll still spread the word among friends--and help drum up attendance.
Groupon and Live Nation (which owns Ticketmaster) have teamed up to form GrouponLive, which is exactly what you'd think it is from the first half of this sentence. The joint venture will offer exclusive deals on tickets to concerts, sports, theater, and other events.
The financial terms of the deal weren't disclosed, but it's easy to see what each side can gain from it; what applies for Groupon's business model in retail holds true here. The features that have always make Groupon appealing--sharing, serendipity, and yes, to a lesser degree, saving money--will continue to drive sales, of which Groupon will presumably take a cut. GrouponLive will help "artists and others to reach ever larger audiences," Michael Rapino of Live Nation said in a statement issued today.
The rise of GrouponLive is well-timed, of course, with the summer concert season on the way--and with last year's concert grosses down 26.4% industry-wide (attendence was down 12.3%). But the sharing potential here--and the idea of tapping into music fans themselves to spread the word about concerts and begin the buzz about shows long before the curtains open, is something we recently discussed with Live Nation's president of national partnerships and the Live Nation Network, Russell Wallach at our Innovation Uncensored event.
Today's announcement ends in unusual fashion, with a sort of "special thanks" paragraph extending gratitude to Guy Oseary--Madonna-manager, Gwyneth Paltrow-dater, onetime rumored Simon Cowell-replacer, and general international man of semi-mystery. Oseary is an intriguing figure in music and entertainment, and Groupon says he's on its advisory board. It will be interesting to see what moves Oseary continues to make in the realm where tech startups and entertainment meet.

Beyoncé: 65,000 sold out concert in Brazil. Grossed more than 10 million only from 3 dates. Don't try it with Beyoncé. And I'm sure that Britney and Rihanna also sold big stadiums.
But anyways. How the hell did y'all go from Britney to Shakira?

What people need to understand is what this album is.
This album came after the "getting back from a bad time" album which had it's boost with the buzz and media all over it.
We had TSC in between with 3 doing it's thing.
So basiclly we didn't have much hype but most important, this is the album were she's about to rebulid herself in the public's eye and the music lovers.
Everyone gave Circus a chance cuz' it was her sort of comeback album but with this, with this she needs to market herself all over again...I'm pretty sure you get what I mean.
So I for once, didn't expected huge sells and the fact her singles are doing great on charts is a good sign for the next album... I think Jive knows it too.
They've given her media expossure like interviews and she's singing live again...It's the old fashion promo artists use to help their popularity...But even more important, they said we'll get 6 singles, dunno if they will live up to thier word but it's def' seem like a move to put her out there and give everyone a taste of the different songs on the album...I only regrat we don't have a ballad on it.
With all that being said, 1m+ WW and almost 600k sold is nothing to be ashamed at, just when you're Britney it's not exactly her best and still this is third of what Circus sold with all the hype and she's not done yet.
I'm pretty sure this is going to end up doing great but for some reason I know her next will be huge.

Well...we will see. I think Britney and Rihanna are not capable of filling stadiums as headliners.
Beyonce? These days- doubtful. Joint gigs are their only options....something like Live Aid.
That Beyonce gig in Brazil was her tour headlining concert? Impressive, if true.

Depends on how expensive are your tickets. Brit's tickets even if they discounted it by half is still expensive as hell. How much is Taylor's tickets btw?
Beyonce's Brazilian Leg was the last part of the tour, if i'm not wrong...
