Add-ons are a good thing actually.
I stan for Firefox. It is amazing. There are a hell load of add-ons that improve your browsing on so many different ways, like AdBlock Plus to never see ads again on any website (also in Youtube movies!) and it's sooo fast!
But you shouldn't install useless or too many add-ons because that slows FF down a bit. Besides, it's safe and so user friendly - you can customise everything you want.
