It was big enough for what the song was. It's a simple safe song (Lose Control, Right There, I'm Into You). & since it will chart higher than all of those I say kudos

Perhaps it had something to do with Vevo promoting her. The general public is not a huge fan of Vevo.
Secondly, though I liked the song, it didn't really have much depth, it didn't really go anywhere, and though it had a message, it wasn't very empowering. At first I thought it would do something along the lines of Bulletproof, but it did not. I think her marketing team went the wrong way with promoting her. If you'll look at the successful Brits in U.S. markets, the album is released way before the first single ends up on the radio. Just look at La Roux, Florence, Amy, Adele (first album), etc.

The main reason is didn't take off is because it didn't have that "WOW" factor that songs like, say, "Rolling In The Deep", "Rehab", and possibly even "Mercy" (though that's debatable) had. "Price Tag" was mildly successful, but I think we all expected more from it. The thing is, I hear it on the radio all the time, but the sales just aren't there. The song sounded amazing for the first 5 listens, and then it just got boring and annoying. B.o.B. was one of the reasons why I didn't fall in love with it. I think that the song will have longevity, and will likely remain on the charts until late summer or early fall, but I don't see it becoming a smash hit.

I will join in with the 'it got boring quickly' argument as well. I've deleted it off my MP3 player and I have to switch it over every time it comes on TV or radio. The rest of her album isn't that great either.

I agree with what most others said. It got boring. I loved it when it first came out, thought it was catchy. Just a few days later, I couldn't stand hearing the song.

neither did beyonce irreplaceable and that was a massive hit.

That's true. You could hear the song or see her face everywhere in Internet. They thought the song would smash, but with many A-list artists returning to the scene, she got kinda overshadowed.
Still, I remain with the point that it didn't have the "it-factor" to take off.
