Coming from the most powerful figure in the world this is HUGE.

Well I would say we don't need this, this is wrong and it's causing a diversity between straights and gays.... but that ALREADY exists. It is at an all-time high and there is no signs of prejudice against gays stopping in America. It's not like we all lived in harmony and suddenly Obama is separating us. We are already separated, teenagers are killing themselves because they hate who they are. Their families won't even suspect they are gay because that isn't normal, it's outrageous, being gay is wrong according to them. This month is bringing awareness and an approving sign from the president to America. It is bringing a positive light on an already controversial topic. This month is GOOD. Black awareness month, that is not needed anymore. There are black people, there are white people, there are just people, the diversity between those two is caused by a constant separation between them due to months and days of support that cause a talking point making people actually diversify them.

With gays we're looking at a society that bullies people for it because they don't understand it, there is no awareness to make it "ok". This month is a step in the right direction for America, and when it is not needed anymore, we will not use it anymore. But is definitely needed now. More so than ever.

No. It's people who have thoughts like yours that have delayed civil rights for every minority in this country. Our rights have not been given to us in full. So, until that happens, we have every justification to complain and push for it to happen.

How dare you call me or anyone ungrateful for simply wanting equality amongst people. This news is great, but like I said, I will not be happy until our rights are equal to everyone else's. And rightfully so.

I don't think you understand the significance of a Historical or Pride month. The biggest good it does is that it pushes for education in our school systems. With our children learning about these things in a positive manner from a young age, it does cut down the bigotry and hate in this world. The children are the future and the news of just that one school district enrolling a school-wide curriculum that educates on homosexuality is tremendously amazing. A month such as this will increase awareness and acceptance in our future, starting with the future - the kids of today.

Ignorance is still ignorance, and I see that you, as well, have it in bountiful.

Dear lord What didn't you understand in both comments? It's one step at the time. I didn't say you don't have the right to fight for your rights, but you should at least be thankful for what he did before asking more. For all I know women rights have not been given to us at full either.

And the last part of your comment doesn't make any sense in rapport to what I said. I don't know if you have a specific problem or you're just highly sensitive, either that's your problem. But nowhere in my post I said you shouldn't be looking for equality. "How dare you?" Really?WTF.

There's no need to cause awareness. People are aware and people will judge the way they have been and not be changed by Gay Pride Month.

If Obama actually had Gay rights as his priority then he should've done something much more significant. He could've advertised same sex marriage but of course he wouldn't because this would hurt his votes on the Anglican and Southern votes.

Gay Pride Month is like 'Hey Gays you aren't normal so we're gonna give you 1 month to feel one. Alright?' It's just another divisive fence to the Unity he calls for.
