The story of America's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) community is the story of our fathers and sons, our mothers and daughters, and our friends and neighbors who continue the task of making our country a more perfect Union. It is a story about the struggle to realize the great American promise that all people can live with dignity and fairness under the law. Each June, we commemorate the courageous individuals who have fought to achieve this promise for LGBT Americans, and we rededicate ourselves to the pursuit of equal rights for all, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity
It's great we have our own month now, but it would be nice if we had equal rights before we start celebrating something like this. Although, it is a really nice gesture on their part.
Its certainly a step in the right direction. At least he's taking action in making it more socially acceptable and bringing notice to it. Him doing this is definitely a monumental moment. Change takes time
Obama has been doing a lot more than most presidents have in the past. This is definitely a step in the right direction, hopefully gay marriage will be something people can look forward to.
First Obama repealed the "Don't Ask Don't Tell" Military Policy, making it legal to be openly gay in the military.
Now this.
He is most def. doing a lot for the gays and waaaaay more than past presidents.
And what u guys don't understand is that marriage is a state issue until the supreme court rules otherwise, so Obama has no policy in that. Gay Marriage is decided by the citizens or representatives of a state.

True, but as boundaries are broken, the sources of "taboo" slowly but steadily become more publicly accepted, like all of the equality movements so far in terms of race and gender. People really take notice to these kinds of things, whether or not on purpose.

I know. I don't think he ever really took a stance on it, though. He has the power to push for gay marriage even if he doesn't have the power to actually legalize it.
And TBH I don't really care about the idea of gay marriage in itself. I just care about equality.
