R&B is suffering because of people like Usher and Rihanna? I heard it all. What exactly is Ciara doing to revive the genre? Absolutely nothing. She ain't no different than Usher or Rihanna, but at least they are finding success in this climate.
Who the heck said she was trying to revive the genre? Who the heck said that R&B was dead in the first place? Now I know you're argument for "tired R&B" is irrelevant. Are you going to tell me right here and now that "S&M", "Only Girl (In the World", "More" & "OMG" are exactly where R&B needs to be? Because if you are, this conversation will be going nowhere at all.

No, but they are hits, and that's what Ciara needs right now.
The Basic Instinct era was handled so horridly. Jive was the defintion of unprofessional.
The first single should've been released in June, & should've been Gimmie Dat. This would serve as the crossover hit. Now I know it flopped horribly, but it was handled horribly. Jive did not give it proper care. With the right treatment, I think it could've done well. An ideal would've been an immediate digital release after premiere, with adds date to almost all formats the next Tuesday, Wednesday, whatever, possible.
Ride should've served as the second single on July, about a month after GD's premiere. Sent exclusively to urban radio in the beginning of the month, digital release two weeks later.
With this organization, she could've had two urban hits at the same time in August, with GD doing its thing on pop & rhythmic. The album should've been released in August, probably mid-late. She also should've had an iTunes countdown, with Yeah I Know & Speechless serving as countdown singles. I hope she uses it for her next album.

Well, thank the heavens you're not completely deluded. Now, you are right, she needs hits, but you should know that she's not going to try to sound like everyone else. She won't make her first single sound like "Till the World Ends" or "We R Who We Are". She's a lot smarter than that. Soon, people are going to realize that that sound will die out soon and there will be nothing left to do but find a new sound. No one smart enough is going to follow a dying breed.

According to him, Ciara still following the CRUNK trend.

Oh, no. I don't want her to go straight-out dance-pop. I want her to get out that "tired R&B" sound that she has been doing for years, and when I say that, I mean, the stuff that would have been popular YEARRRS ago. Say what you want about Rihanna (who I do not considered an R&B artist), but there is a reason why she has produced several #1 hits and have gone platinum with almost all of her releases. She stays current without trying to hard and her music is diverse. Usher, as much as I think he has fell off musically, is still producing hits. If he was still doing the "U Got It Bad" / "Yeah" stuff, he would not be successful today. He's one artist who I think doesn't need to follow trends and should just do more mature music. He has already proven himself. Ciara, however, is struggling and is still young. I have no beef with saying that she should try to do what is current. If she wants success, then that's what she will have to do... or start a new sound, which I do not think Ciara is capable of.

That's exactly what I thought he was talking about.
(too lazy to understand everything he's saying)
I understand what he's talking about, but Ciara still understands where she came from and what made her a hit in the first place and she won't abandon that to make a new persona no real fan will like or use a method of music that isn't as relevant today. But R&B is still in her roots and is still a relevant genre.
What made her a hit is no longer popular. And R&B is not relevant in the mainstream anymore, or at least not like it used to be. Let's be real here.
The F it isn't. Tell me that "Rolling In The Deep", "Grenade", "Down On Me" & "Motivation" are not mainstream hits and/or not the makings of what R&B is! YES, LET US BE REAL HERE!!!

I posted "Down On Me" a few pages ago.
That song is a similar style to "Girls Get Your Money", "Shut 'Em Up" & "Yeah I Know" from her latest era.
Ciara's voice is not as distinctive as Rihanna's and she does not have the soul of Janet Jackson. Added to that she has a struggling record label, who can't even exploit artists with massive fan bases, let alone artists who have virtually no fan base.
Her only chance is digitally unfortunately, and only if she features with a major artist. She will never be an album selling unless her entire perception is changed through the public eye and media. However she dosen't have the artistic ablility or direction to make that happen at the moment.

"Rolling in the Deep" is NOT an R&B song. It's a Pop/Soul song that received little to no airplay on R&B radio. It has some R&B elements, but it's not a pure R&B song.
"Grenade" is NOT R&B. It didn't get any R&B airplay. That song has Pop/AC all over it. "Motivation" has yet to crossover to pop radio.
"Down on Me" is the exception but certainly not the rule. And even if those examples were good, that's how many songs out of the tons of stuff that is topping Billboard and iTunes right now?
And Ciara stans are seriously trying to criticizing my points.

Yeah, yeah. They said that in 2004 and she came out with this R&B Classic.
