Worldwide?
1. Gaga
2. Adele

Katy has had success, yes, but her album sales are poor and she isn't as much of a worldwide phenomenon as Gaga and Adele have been. Same with Rihanna. Britney barely dented the charts in the major music markets of the UK, Germany and Japan. She used to be the biggest artist on the planet, but to say she still is just isn't true at all. Ke$ha and Christina, well, don't require much explanation.
Gaga goes above Adele, because Adele can't go to #1 based on album sales alone. Sure, her album sales are amazing, but Gaga is a much bigger touring artist (because Adele doesn't tour), a much bigger performance artist and is generally the biggest artist in the world right now. I don't care what people say about the $0.99 deal, the release of none of these other girls' albums combined had as much anticipation as the release of Born This Way.
