Why do they get scared and move onto a new album every time they dont get a #1 single?

Their latest album is actually great so I don't understand why they're releasing a new one. & do they always have to follow the same formula of releasing a new single in the summer only to perform on the X-factor in November and release the album then?
Their days are numbered.
