Yahoo! Amplifier: Lady Gaga's Bad 'Hair' Day
Quote:
Oh my God, seriously, what is going on with this Lady Gaga record? Is it an album or the salvaged contents of a 1991 jukebox after a horrible fire? "Hair" confirms our suspicions that nobody at Interscope successfully worked A&R on Born This Way. Lady Gaga likely shook one of her giant shoes at label boss Jimmy Iovine, sucked on the crystal she dunks into her tea, and said something about the '70s with an "ah ah" at the end of it. And everyone smiled and nodded.
Has nobody told Lady Gaga there is a whole musical about the power of one's hair to define identity? And that it is called Hair? Because that is the theme of "Hair," which purports to bring a Bruce Springsteen vibe to the club. Part of that rings true -- it sounds like she tricked E Street saxophonist Clarence Clemons into showing up at the worst disco ever.
Like "Judas," "Hair" is the victim of too much everything. It opens like a ballad with gentle vocals over piano and saxophone, segues into a snare-slapping approximation of "Born to Run," and then hits its chorus -- a cheery volley of "I am my hair!" over see-sawing synths. Producer RedOne struggles to get a bit of his signature sound in the mix starting at the 1:44 mark, where you can hear a glimmer of what the song would have been as a straight-up dance hit à la "Poker Face" (the answer: a pretty great song!). At 2:24 it's back to the Springsteen schtick, until we hit the Stevie Nicks schtick (yes, really) at 3:40. Don't miss the "Heat of the Moment" drums at 4:20, which is actually our favorite part.
Born This Way is due May 23rd, and so far between official singles and unconventional debuts we've heard about half of the album -- Gaga has released "Born This Way," "Judas," and "The Edge of Glory" and provided fans with live samplings of "Americano" and "You and I." There's no artistic cohesion holding this record together aside from a few ill-advised guiding principles, like "more is more" and "everything '80s is popular right now." The Fame and The Fame Monster were amazing albums. Something is going terribly wrong here.

Yahoo! Music: Amplifier: Lady Gaga's Bad 'Hair' Day
With "Marry The Night" being reminiscent of "Who Owns My Heart," the production on "Hair"
resembling "Permanent December," and "You and I" having its counterpart, "Forgiveness
and Love," I think it's safe to say we're all ready for Lady Gaga's sophomore Disney
album, "Can't Be Tamed 2.0," also known as, "Born This Way."

Vin, we're all fine with you posting your opinion in the BTW topic or whatever. But doing this is the hardcore ****. Now you are taking away fine opportunities for monsters to post something else.
And there's no point in it.

And yet Gaga is the one sitting happy with 3 No.1 Singles, and a handful of multi-platinum hits. Thanks for the enlightenment, Yahoo

Should be #1 on iTunes any time now.
And they will not come for Judas. Your faves wish they could record a track like Judas.

"Hair" is definitely reminiscent to Miley, but it's not as if it could be Miley song. Of course I could hear her singing it, but I don't think it sounds like one of her songs.
As far as the rest of the tracks are concerned, the "review" [or as I like to call it, a blog post] is really reaching and a bit nonsensical.

Usually you are quite funny with your (often) delusional descriptions of Gaga songs, but this just screams pressed. And within a day of the track being out. Are you on your period or what?
Leave reviews to the fans of the artist, like usual.

I only read the negative reviews... since they tend to be the most accurate.

Only read the negative reviews? Selective reading I see. Not surprised that you're spending your time on the negativity though, considering that's where you seem to thrive.
Did you read all of the negative reviews for your fave's recent work? "They tend to be the most accurate."
