Dylan McDermott Joins 'Perks Of Being A Wallflower' Cast



We thought wallflowers were supposed to blend in, but the cast of the film
adaptation of Stephen Chbosky's "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" is pretty much
full of standouts. Yet another big name has been added to the cast—Variety
reports that Dylan McDermott will play Logan Lerman's and Nina Dobrev's father in the film.

Logan's character is a "boy whose life dramatically changes as he learns about
secrets buried deep in his past during his freshman year of high school" (and
for those of you who haven't read the book yet, it's a pretty intense secret),
so playing one of the parental units is a pretty tall order. Dylan joins Kate
Walsh, who was announced as Logan's movie mom earlier this week.

One thing Dylan certainly has going for him is a strong family resemblance with
his onscreen son. They have so much in common. That dark hair. Those strong
jawlines. Those intense, brooding eyes. Now that's one family dinner
we would not mind being invited to.

Add to that bundle of hotness the talented female leads (Nina Dobrev and Emma
Watson? Yes, please!) and "Perks" is shaping up to be one of the projects we're
most excited about.

Delving into her brand new project, Nina Dobrev was hard at work on the Pittsburgh set of "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" on Saturday afternoon (May 14).

The "Vampire Diaries" actress was focused on perfecting her character's actions, as she intensely practiced a scene by throwing her wallet and carrying around an open briefcase. Joining Miss Dobrev on the Pittsburgh set were co-stars Dylan McDermott and Kate Walsh, who both were spotted wandering around the trailer area in between takes.

As for the movie, "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" tells the story of an introvert freshman named Charlie who learns everything from drug use to suicide after being taken on the wings by step siblings Sam and Patrick.

Directed by Stephen Chbosky, the film also stars Emma Watson, Logan Lerman and Paul Rudd with a release date slated for 2012.

Nina Dobrev: Perky in Pittsburgh



Working on the weekend, Nina Dobrev was spotted on the set of her new movie “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania yesterday (May 15).

The CW beauty was joined by costar Kate Walsh as they filmed scenes, and chatted on her mobile phone during a break in shooting.

Nina recently told press she has high hopes for her character Elena in the upcoming season of “The Vampire Diaries.”

“To be completely honest, I’d love for her to smile a bit. She needs to begin to have a real life again, because right now she’s consumed by chaos. There needs to be a light at the end of the tunnel. She needs to feel again, and have relationships again because everyone in her life has been suffering so much, it’s becoming an action sequence as opposed to this girl going through her life.”
