Calvin Harris accuses Cobra Starship of plagiarism
Calvin Harris has accused Cobra Starship of plagiarism over their new single.
The New York City-based fivesome unveiled their latest track, titled 'You Make Me Feel...', earlier this week.
Various music forums and blogs immediately picked up on the similarities between the song and Harris's UK number one 'I'm Not Alone', which was released in April 2009.
Harris himself has acknowledged the similarities, posting the audio of 'You Make Me Feel...' on Twitter with the caption: "And another one."
He went on to explain: "I sort of wish i had just made a load of beats that sounded like 'I'm Not Alone' myself, i'd be living in a gold plated castle right now (sic)."
However, after making the statement he insisted to his followers that he was only messing around.
"Please know i'm never 100% serious about this stuff...! It's funny to me. I love music! I'm VERY happy so many people like that track!!!" he wrote.
Cobra Starship's 'You Make Me Feel...' is released in the US today. A UK date is yet to be confirmed.

Love Calvin, but I hate it when he plays this game of catch the plagiarist. I'll buy into your paranoia when a track directly rips a melody or beat from one of your tracks, but as it stands no track has done so. There are vague similarities between "I'm Not Alone" and thousands of other tracks simply because it is Calvin's most predictable track. The stabby synth melody and chord progression he employed in that track is reminiscent of like 99% of trance tracks released between 1999 and 2003. "I'm Not Alone" is enjoyable enough, but it's hardly original enough that these copycat claims should be made against tracks that share vague similiarities once every 6 months.
Calvin is a prick and thinks EVERYONE copies him............ JLS, Chris Brown and now Cobra. FOH.
Get a grip I dont think he's ever mentioned JLS's song, and all three DO steal his song. It only takes ****ing ears to realize that, its sooo obvious

The similarities between Eyes Wide Shut, Yeah 3x and this song are painfully obvious to I'm not Alone, its not just similar the beat is almost exactly the same. It's not like he's ever taken serious action before.
