Yes, they tried different genres in the beginning to find their rhythm and preference in music and which genre they are more suitable with.

When it's narrowed to Top 8, most of them are focused on only one genre.

Scotty is obviously gonna pursue his career in Country music. That ONE TRICK PONY excuse is invalid.

Can't you see, based on his prior prediction or preference of contestants, he was proven wrong. His prediction remained valid that they were indeed great singers, but not singers that sell records.

Using the same logic, Haley is also a great singer, but one that can't see records.

Country starts are local but since US itself is the biggest music market, they could end up sell more collectively than most international acts. Just see Antabellum, Sugarland, Aldean, Swift and their album sales.

Scotty got the perfect package that appeal to Country audience. He will do well. He might get a little crossover success due to the exposure from Idol. He's never been in Bottom 3 too. A clear indication.
