I think you're taking things too seriously, tbh. With Gaga, the key has always been to take things seriously, but not that seriously. For instance, the Born This Way video was phenomenal and symbolic in all kinds of ways. It appeared very serious, but she reminded everyone that she's not a brick wall of serious symbolism by putting the bubble gum at the end. I don't really see a reason for her to put out a horribly serious portrayal of Mary Magdalene. Anyone can do that. What Gaga does that no one else can is take serious/important subject matter and make the point of entry accessible to everyone, as she did with Bad Romance (which, to this day, most people don't seem to understand at all) and Born This Way (song + video).
