About St. Bernard Project
The St. Bernard Project was founded by Liz McCartney and Zack Rosenburg in March 2006. Since that time they have evolved into a thriving rebuilding organization that has helped over 350 families who were affected by Hurricane Katrina and Rita move back into their homes. Yet, nearly 200 families still reside in FEMA trailers and thousands of others live in temporary housing.
To carry out this mission, the St. Bernard Project has established a Volunteer Driven Rebuilding Program, which rebuilds homes in 12 weeks of volunteer labor with approximately $15,000 in building supplies, an Opportunity Housing Program, a Good Work Good Pay (GWGP) Program and a Center for Wellness and Mental Health.
