With $33.2 million in the bank on Friday and $30.2 million on Saturday, Fast Five is on pace for a whopping $83.6 million. That gives the sequel the strongest opening of the series—2009's Fast & Furious previously held the record with $71 million. It also represents the strongest April opening of all time, which Fast & Furious also held. $8.3 million of the weekend total will be from IMAX theaters. Internationally, Fast Five has raked in $81.4 million and it now has a worldwide total of $165 million. The overall CinemaScore rating is an A. Universal is reporting that 56% was male, and 52% was under 25.
I just saw this yesterday, and it was seriously good. The cinematography and everything are just brilliant. My favorite off the series...probably the best movie of 2011 so far........or 2nd to source code...

the action and car chasing scenes were just from beginning to end
I honestly thought this was going to underperform. Mostly because, I didn't think the general public were going to tune in for a fifth movie, but the critical praise has pushed this over the moon.
