Britney Produced Blackout. She was looking for a distinct sound (and the year it came out it was) then viola! Everyone created electronic dance songs a la Blackout. Like it or not, Britney is one of the main reasons electro dance became popular. Blackout is like the godfather of all dance albums.

Um not really. Promise of future dubstep could mean the same thing as a song that has a strong dubstep influence to it. The whole point of promise of future dubstep is that there would be an evolution to full dubstep in other songs. The end product is the same though. Britney did dubstep two years before Rated R even came out. Rihanna was not the first mainstream artist to use dubstep in her music. Period. She also was not the first artist to widely publicize it as none of Rihanna's songs featuring dubstep were widely released as singles in the way Hold It Against Me and the remix to Till The World Ends has.

WYT was not widely released nor did it have the same amount of impact as HIAM did. Unless you are really going to say #10 on the Bubbling Under Chart is breaking dubstep into the Pop market. HIAM had much bigger exposure and had much more of a put it on the map impact then WYT did. Britney also did it first with Freakshow. She cornered both markets there.

WYT was the first full dubstep track. HIAM's breakdown was dubstep not the full track and Freakshow was influnced by dubstep but was never the first FULL blown dubstep track from a mainstream artist. And yes WYT was released it was the "buzz single". They had on her official website & the singles Verison to the song on iTunes.

To be honest, none of the mainstream songs that've utilized dubstep have been all that memorable or iconic...and definitely not grammy winning (). In other words... this thread is ****.

As I stated before you will be hard pressed to find one individual who feels #10 on the Bubbling Under Chart is akin to breaking dubstep into the mainstream listening public. While Hold It Against Me was a #1 song and was a top 5 airplay hit. Dubstep is dubstep. Freakshow also uses dubstep in the entire song. Hold It Against Me has a pronounced and notable dubstep break that is the highlight of the song and that critics immediately noticed and praised. You can't discredit that in anyway. Moreover her album continues to use it in songs like Seal It With A Kiss, Inside Out and she even has a notable remix with a more pronounced dubstep break in her most recent single (TTWE). You can't win this debate. Britney was the first mainstream artist to use dubstep and she was the first artist to bring it to a mass audience. The end.
