looks like E.T. will get that 5th week at #1. She is currently at 83% of Adele, and if you add the 3rd version of E.T., that's another 4%, so that's now 87% of Adele. Plus 12k in remixes that aren't tabulated into the pop bars. Plus 71M airplay difference. Katy's got it!

well 5 weeks looks like a lock. I'm not sure about weeks 6 and 7. She'll start falling on pop, but she's still gaining on rhy and hot ac, so maybe that will offset the pop decreases. I guess i could see another 2 weeks. It's exciting! What if she beats BTW's 6 weeks! Who's performing on tv next week?

She'll stay at #1 on Pop for the next two weeks. Book it. JCGE is 3300 spins away, so even if it gains 250 spins a day, it will still take 13 days to pass E.T., which also doesn't look like it will lose spins anytime soon. Look at S&M, it's still at above 13K spins two weeks after it topped the Pop chart.

Erm, E.T. has been charting for months as an album track so it will be nowhere near record pace.

Well "LTWYL" sold 3,088,000 in 12 weeks [just faster example], while "E.T." is on it's 11th, and would have to sell 380k this week to pass 3 million. So I don't think so. "Boom Boom Pow" sold 3 million in 11 weeks, also. (it holds faster to 4 million -- 23 weeks).

EDIT: And yes, technically it's chart run began when it debuted as a promotional single back in August. So Billboard probably wouldn't even acknowledge it.

For months? Nope. It was promo single prior to album release. And then charted again when remix got released.
