Britney is already a legend and has been for sometime now

Britney has the biggest picture. It's like we already know the answer. Love it

1- Christina Aguilera catalog is legendary imo. Her songs are ****ing good.
2- Beyonce because of her performances & Single Ladies vidéo but to me she's not Legend.
3- Britney is just Hype. i cant believe people call her Legend.
4- Shakira & Pink are not legends just underated artists.

So my vote go to Christina.

Britney is the closest to legendom. I really think her comeback pretty much sealed the deal personally. I think Beyonce is next in line personally but only if you factor Destiny's Child into the equation. I would say once she gets her touring in check she will be one. None of the other ones work they simply haven't had enough impact nor longevity IMO. Britney and Beyonce have been going for 13-14 years and still are pretty successful and are still relevant and even having career highs for better or for worse. Christina, Shakira and P!nk not so much. I do think P!nk is carving out a niche audience that will stay loyal to her though but she was never as big as the likes of Knowles or Spears.

None of them are legends, yet. Icons though. Everyone knows their name and everoyone knows a couple of their songs. They all have a defined image that is easily distinctive and recognizable. Finally, each has made some chart impact.

So why aren't they legends? In the past, legends are meant with respect because of their talent and innovation. Michael Jackson, Elvis, The Beatles, Madonna, and several others were known not just for selling massively, but changing the game.

Britney and Beyonce may be the closest on the list, but the problem is Britney created something different. In fact she didn't create anything. She was the predecessor to these reality TV/tabloid stars because her image was a perfect manufactured formula. Miley duplicated it and so have other Disney tweens. So you see Britney kind of produced negative influence (not all the time), while the legends listed above produced positive influence. In addition, nearly everything Britney did Janet Jackson did first...but there are some legends that have arrived in the past and clearly influenced by other legends/icons.

We'll see

Unless we're talking about Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, or Madonna, the term "Legend" is an exaggeration...
I'd say Gaga, Christina, and Britney are icons.

They're all 100 % manufactured, at the end of the day, but only Britney has achieved legendary status.

I'd say she changed the rules of the pop game and the celebrity culture.
Thanks to her, record label started to trust young female popstar again and most of the singers out today wouldn't be here if it weren't for her paving the way for them and becoming the scapegoat of the industry in the process.

No one thought someone could ever challenge Madonna's throne but she came out of nowhere and did it, with a different kind of image & music.

By the way, I think someone said Britney was a Janet clone. I'd say that Britney is her Control and In The Zone, her Janet. She also was inspired by her choreographies.

Apart from that, they're completely different prototypes. Britney's most iconic/memorable moments owe nothing to Janet.

You may think she's completely talentless and everything.
I don't agree with that at all and even if it was true, you can't become the biggest female popstar in the world when you don't have something in you the public is addicted to (charisma, X-factor, personality) .

Which in itself is a talent too that cannot be taught.
