In addition to releasing "Before It Explodes" to US iTunes today (iTunes Link), Charice also released another single, a mid-tempo titled "One Day," which was co-written and co-produced by Nick Jonas (of the Jonas Brothers).
She has a potential hit in her hands, and if paired with an incredible video there’s no way this song won’t a show on the charts. Great strategy by Charice’s team in deciding to saturate today with new stuff from her. After millions of people watch Glee tonight and get charmed by her performance of “All By Myself," they’ll be searching for her on the internet – and all her new singles are just there waiting to be heard and downloaded.
The single was released in correlation with the Acuvue Contacts 1-Day challenge, which will give three lucky fans the chance to appear in the "One Day" music video. The single is currently available on iTunes (HERE).
As much as I love "Before It Explodes," what I appreciate about "One Day" is that there's no one else to compare it to (as with Alexandra's version of BIE). It's perfectly suited to Charice's voice and is something more uptempo from her than we're used to hearing. Definitely a great song that really highlights her playful youthfulness (rather than the more mature image we've seen in the past with her many covers of classic ballads). I just hope people who stay pressed will consider giving Charice a chance now. :]

The only thing I want from her is to ditch the bubblegum pop sound some of her songs have, but I'm really happy with all three songs we got from her this week. All By Myself, Before It Explodes and One Day.

Agreed! Her first album was definitely more bubble-gum pop, but I guess that's to be expected. The songwriters weren't sure what to do with Charice and her amazing voice initially, but now that she's had time to develop more into who she wants to be as an artist, and now that she's on Glee, I think things are finally starting to get moving in a serious way. I'm hoping she co-writes some songs on her next album though, because it's always nice to have that personal touch.
