I was watching this documentary-type show called "Exposed" that just ended on VH1 and they were discussing 2005-07 Britney. All of them thought her career was completely over and she'd be unable to score another big hit in her career. I believe this show was recorded before the VMA performance took place because they didn't mention it or anything that happened afterwards, for that matter. All of this got me thinking that we should be happy that at least she's still releasing music, even if it underperforms for her standards. Be thankful, people.
