I think what Gaga is really reaching out to us is not to judge something by its looks. Just like the "Born This Way" cover, it may be not appealing to others, but that doesn't mean that content isn't good! What I like about the album cover is that it has a different message to each person. For me, I think it's the journey to full freedom, so if you want to have full freedom, you might want to join Lady Gaga as well + ride on her wagon. It's actually smart of her to release a cover that can mean anything to everyone. Quoting Gaga on her latest interview with Google, she mentioned that interviewers nowadays pay more closely to what she wears than her music, which is why she's here. So, I think she made the album cover like this because she wanted the general public to focus more on the music. The problem now is that people are creating commotion because their expectations weren't reached - people took it seriously, they expected "Oh, she was born that way maybe she'll be brunette", I mean, what do people want she'd do? Make the actual scene of her birth, with her mom's vagina wide open and come out her? Again, quoting Gaga, some people take her seriously.
