"E.T." sold another 320k+ this past week, being #1 with a decent lead. Rihanna & Britney are now #1 with a lead, plus the original still selling high. If they can at least keep the lead through the week, they'll be selling more than 300k and that means Katy sales will see a fall. Let's not forget half a day of extra sales, too.
But the other S&M version is FAR higher on sales than 'E.T.', plus it also has bigger airplay.
It's going to be close. "E.T." has been getting massive airplay updates daily, I'm sure it will catch up "S&M" by next week, so don't count on that. It will come down to downloads and streaming points. Let's not forget the remix is being sold on iTunes only, and "E.T." is currently No. 1 on Rhapsody and Amazon. As I said, it's going to be close.
After all the trash talk, I just hope we don't have to eat our own words next week.

How's the airplay situation right now? I'd like to know so I can elaborate a proper answer to this post of yours.

"E.T." has been gaining 3 million audience impressions per day, while "S&M" is about to peak this week. The gap will most likely disappear by next Tuesday.

Dont let no one stress you out.
But they could make a difference when the competition is tight.

According to NPD Group, iTunes' share of the retail digital music download business in the U.S. now stands at 70%, a one percentage point increase since the firm last measured iTunes' position in 2009.
Amazon's digital download arm, AmazonMP3 , grew by four percentage points to 12% in the same period, said Russ Crupnick, vice president and senior industry analyst for entertainment at NPD.
The remaining share of the digital music business is split by a number of smaller players, including Rhapsody and Napster.

You're forgetting the remix is also getting plays now, so it's unlikely 'S&M' is gonna peak this week.

Nah, it'll peak. Today it got like a +.3 I believe. There's pretty much no more room to grow in Pop unfortunately. As long as the remix stays at #1 I'm thinking we're good.
