WWD on Gaga's runway debut
In Womenswear Daily's special Fall Collections 2011 issue:
THE GAGA FACTOR
Six months ago, the Thierry Mugler name - while powerful in perfume - caused barely a flicker on the fashion radar. Today, the needle is practically buried, thanks to the combustible combination of Lady Gaga and her superstylist Nicola Formichetti, co-conspirators in the reinvention of the iconic Eighties brand.
Before the show, Gaga tweeted, "I have a monster dashion announcement are your paws up? I'm so excited I might give birth to a machine gun. I'm making my debut as a runway model, walking in the MUGLER PARIS FASHIONSHOW 3/2. I directed the show music previewing Government Hooker."
The night of Formihetti's women's wear debut in Paris, Muger was the number-one trending topic on Twitter, according to Joel Palix, President of Clarins Fragrance Group and director of the general Mugler company. "We also doubled our number of Facebook fans overnight," he enthused.
No wonder. The runway show featured the new Gaga track from her forthcoming album, "Born This Way," and the pop priestess herself strutting the catwalk: puffing on a cigarette, flicking her giant blonde ponytails or flailing a long stole. More than standard runway show, it was fashion converging with entertainment, celebrity and the burgeoning digital universe. There was a live-streaming of all the action, from the backstage melee to models vamping it up on a cathedral-like set in skintight, glossy dresses and catsuits transported from some fierce fashion fantasy planet of Formichetti's invention. Paix reported a strong sales campaign with two retailers gravitating toward Gaga's two runway exits and "the most sophisticated, avant-garde pieces."
Close to 100 doors will feature the spring collection, including the likes of Barneys New York, Jeffrey, Opening Ceremony, Joyce, Dover Street Market, Harvey Nichols, The Bay and Tsum.

Y'all a lot of models are 'ugly', they just have very distinctive faces. Lady Gaga doesn't have an overly memorable face (no shade).
I was laughing at that comment because she's not a model, she's a singer. And she couldn't be one even if she wanted to, she's way too short and her face is wrong for it.

Not to throw shade or anything, I know you are entitled to to your opinion, but you don't create someone else ideal of beauty.

Y'all missed my point, I didn't say she was no good nor did I say she was ugly, I just said she wasn't a model, because she isn't.
No hate, she was awesome at the show.

She wasn't trying to be a model, she was trying to have fun. She wasn't there to model the clothing, she was there to promote herself, the brand, and preview a new track. However, she strutted down the runway in 13 inch heels without missing a beat. Come back when you can do that. <3

Never said she was trying either, just said she wasn't a model in response to someone calling her a 'true model'.

And who are you to define what a model should or shouldn't be like?

A model, sometimes called a mannequin, is a person who is employed for the purpose of displaying and promoting fashion clothing or other products and for advertising or promotional purposes or who poses for works of art.

She was a Mugler model that night, like beyonce is model for L'Oreal, Like Chanel Iman is a model for Victoria Secret. The only difference is in Beyonce and Gaga case it's not their main activity. She was a model and the critics love it. End of...!!!

It's a good thing none of you are in the fashion industry...
She received unanimous praise for her runway début. Your fave could never (unless your fave is Beyoncé, because she did too. )

She was actually their to support her friend Nicola, and she is a huge fan of Mugler.
Despite Lady Gaga not being a high end super model, she was praised for her walk, she walked better then most supermodels who live this life.
Beauty is very much so subjective, but if she gets to grace 2 covers of vogue and feature in Italian vogue, and praised for walking in the runways of Paris. Paris' most fashionable, including Vogue editor Anna Wintour... were at attendance. She even smiled at Lady Gaga something that hadn't happen in a long time... if anyone has that Tweet still Id like it posted
This bitch is ****ing fierce, you faves could never... can come at her from any other angle but until your fave can do this.... >

The conventional wisdom really is true -- they're simply the best.
