Robert Sheehan will not be returning for the third series of Misfits.
The show's executive producer Petra Fried announced the news at the Kapow convention in London today.
Sheehan's character Nathan, who has appeared in the show since it began in 2009, will now be replaced by a new character called Rudi.
Casting for Rudi is still ongoing. Nathan's departure and Rudi's arrival are expected to be dealt with in short films posted on the E4 website before the third series begins.
Sheehan can currently be seen in the movie Killing Bono and also worked on the film Season Of The Witch, which was released earlier this year.
The third series of Misfits is scheduled to air later this year on E4.
I told you he wasn't coming back Sinny. I can't at some of yall saying the show will end or it will be nothing without him. When truth is every main character from the beginning was disposable. Which is why they gave each character flaws that made you either want to see them change or die
(See: Nikki who was supposed to become a series regular)
. Robert had excellent comedic timing, but outside of that he wasn't interesting.
Now if Antonia, Iwan or Lauren left then yeah it's time to call a quits.
Totally pissed at the news of Sheehan leaving. Probably in the minority but the cast as a whole made the show a success, as oppose to one actor/character. So, I'm not down with the whole "Nathan made the show, I never watch Misfits again" crap that has been going around since the news was announced.
I do feel for Kelly/Nathan shippers as they never really got going. However, optimistic that Howard won't turn Rudy into a Nathan-esque character.
