Cuando sólo tenía 13 años, comenzó su carrera en el mundo del entretenimiento en la serie The Mickey Mouse Club junto a quienes se convertirían en famosos también, Britney Spears y Justin Timberlake. Actuó dos años en la popular serie, y luego se concentró en su carrera como cantante. Su nombre comenzó a resonar en 1998 cuando fue seleccionada entre un grupo de cantantes conocidos para interpretar la canción principal de la película animada de Disney, Mulan, titulada “Reflection”. Después de este éxito, Christina contrata a la disquera RCA para grabar su primer disco como solista.
Christina Aguilera lanza su primer disco el 24 de agosto de 1999 en donde incluye su primer sencillo, Genie in a Bottle (Genio Atrapado), transformándola de cantante a estrella de inmediato, y posicionándola #1 en la lista Billboard. El disco además contenía los exitosos sencillos What a Girl Wants, I Turn to You, y, Come on over Baby. El disco ocupó el lugar #1 en la lista Billboard simultáneamente con su primer sencillo, logrando ser la segunda cantante en lograr ese éxito después que Britney Spears lo hiciera un poco antes el mismo año. Su mayor triunfo lo logra en el 2000, cuando fue nominada y gana el premio Grammy, Mejor Nuevo Artista, en donde Britney Spears, Kid Rock y otros más habían sido sólo nominados.
Después de su éxito con su disco debut, Aguilera no se queda quieta. Comienza una gira y pone al descubierto su orgullo por sus raíces latinas al lanzar un disco en español Mi Reflejo, en septiembre 2000 escalando a otro nivel entre sus competidores. Mi Reflejo, es uno de los discos en español con más copias vendidas en el mundo entero, 5 millones y además, disco que ganó el premio Latin Grammy.
Su trayectoria continúa en ascenso, lanza su disco Stripped en el que incluye las exitosas canciones Beautiful, The Voice Within y Fighter. Internacionalmente, Stripped fue uno de los discos más exitosos del 2003.
Se toma un descanso de cuatro años, Christina regresa en el 2006 con su disco Back to Basics, en donde experimenta con sonidos de los 20, 30, y 40 mezclando su amor al jazz y blues. El disco contiene los exitosos sencillos Candyman y Aint no other Man, por el cual gana otro Grammy.
Después de Back to Basics, Aguilera anuncia al mundo que estaba esperando su primer bebé, Max.
En 2010 regresa en grande con un nuevo disco, una película en la pantalla grande, y una estrella en su honor en el Camino de la Fama en Hollywood. En noviembre 2010 sale la película Burlesque en donde actúa junto a la ícono Cher; la película logra más de $80 millones en ventas por el mundo y lanza un exitoso disco con música de la película. El 15 de noviembre, se eterniza su fama en una estrella de Hollywood. El año le trajo triunfos, pero también momentos difíciles; en octubre firma papeles para su divorcio con su esposo, el padre de su hijo.
El 2011comenzó con buenas noticias, participará de un nuevo programa de televisión dedicado a encontrar nuevos talentos vocales titulado, The Voice, que se estrena el 26 de abril por la cadena NBC.
Nos reunimos con la cantante para hablar sobre su vida, su nuevo proyecto por televisión, su nueva música y sus sueños. La carismática Christina Aguilera lucía muy cordial y más accesible que nunca.
¿Por qué aceptas ser parte de la serie The Voice?
El proyecto está funcionando de acuerdo al motivo por el que fue creado. El concepto no es un show negativo, al contrario, trae cualidades positivas y busca talentos sin escuela y se basa sólo en cualidades vocales.
¿Qué buscas como juez en The Voice?
Esa voz especial, inesperada, algo que te mueve. Una reacción instintiva. Talento innegable.
¿Han cantado alguna de tus canciones durante una audición?
Es muy gratificante escuchar que alguien cante tus canciones. Pero es difícil juzgar porque uno está acostumbrada a escucharla del modo en que uno la canta. Es difícil evaluar la interpretación de una canción tuya cuando la canta otro.
El motivo de The Voice es que mentores encuentren talentos. ¿Quiénes han sido tus mentores?
Whitney Houston y Etta James, para mencionar algunos.
¿Ha pasado algo cómico detrás de los lentes con los otros jueces que puedas compartir?
¡Montones! Ninguno que quiera mencionar. Estos niños traviesos, hay que mantenerlos en forma. Nos divertimos mucho.
¿Cuál es tu mejor recuerdo de Mi Reflejo?
Fue la primera vez que fui escuchada por mis fans latinos cuando comencé mi carrera, y compartir eso en un idioma que amo es increíble.
Has mencionado tener ganas de grabar un segundo disco en español… ¿Hay posibilidades? O sólo incluirás un par de canciones en español en tu disco en inglés…
¡Sí, sí, sí! Español siempre será una parte de mi música en alguna medida y todavía tengo todas las intenciones de grabar otro disco en español.
¿Qué es lo que más te gusta de tus raíces latinas?, ¿qué admiras de la cultura?
Me encanta la pasión, el fuego, y el amor profundo y orgullo que se tiene para la cultura. El idioma español es bello.
Recientemente estuviste en Brasil, ¿cómo fue esa experiencia?
Increíble. ¡Una bienvenida tan grande! Cuando llegué al aeropuerto me saludaron miles de mis fans.
¿Tienes planes de visitar otros países latinoamericanos?
¡Todos! ¡Mis fans latinos son increíbles!
¿Cuáles son tus mejores recuerdos de latinoamerica?
Hay una energía increíble que recibo de mis fans allí. Algunas veces los conciertos pueden ser hasta peligrosos porque los fans se entusiasman tanto que se descontrolan y se ponen muy pegados a la barricada que protege el escenario.
¿Qué música estás escuchando estos días?
La música de Lauren Hill y Nina Simone, música que me inspira.
¿Estás leyendo guiones para una posible segunda película?
Ocasionalmente. Querría hacer otra película, pero estoy concentrada en mi serie, en mi equipo, y en mi música por ahora.
Hablemos del nuevo álbum, ¿estás grabando o escribiendo nuevo material? ¿En qué dirección tu creatividad se está dirigiendo?
Sí, estoy constantemente escribiendo y grabando música. Después del año pasado, he tenido un gran crecimiento y ganado mucha fuerza. Realmente quiero compartir esto de una manera muy profunda y honesta a través de mi música.

¿Cuál es tu película favorita?, ¿libro?
Sound of Music (La Novicia Rebelde) por que me recuerda de mi infancia. Además, Alice in Wonderland (Alicia en el País de las Maravillas), fue mi libro favorito.
¿Cuáles son tus sueños que todavía deseas realizar?
Soy una persona que rinde más de lo que se espera, tengo una lista de cosas que quiero hacer que nunca se acaba. Estoy muy concentrada en el aquí y ahora y trato de vivir espontáneamente. Si tuviese que hacer una lista, pondría que quiero aprender a cocinar, continuar perfeccionando mi español, grabar mi disco en español, y posiblemente, aprender a manejar. ¿Puedes creer que todavía no puedo?
¿Escribirás algún día tu autobiografía?
Posiblemente, sí, por razones de motivación.
¿Cuál ha sido el mejor momento que la fama te haya traído?, y ¿el más difícil?
Los mejores momentos son cuando estoy de gira. Siento que realmente conecto con mis admiradores más apasionados. El peor tendría que ser el perder mi libertad personal.
¿Cómo balanceas tantos proyectos mientas crías a tu niño?
Cada persona encuentra su propio balance que funciona para ellos también.
¿Qué consejos le darías a quienes están tratando de entrar en la industria de la música u otras ramas del entretenimiento?
Prepárate para trabajar duro. Pero si eres apasionado y no puedes verte haciendo otra cosa, todo es posible. Rodéate de personas que te apoyan, personas auténticas y trata de encontrar tu propia voz interior.
Britney Spears recientemente dijo que le encanta tu canción Woo-hoo, ¿Tienes una canción favorita de ella?
Recuerdo adorando el trabajo que había hecho con Moby. Y su primer sencillo, Baby One More Time, fue fantástico. Una canción pop brillante.
¿Tienes rituales diarios?
Lavarme la cara y ponerme un humectante antes de ir a dormir. Tener una piel sana es importante para mí.

What made you agree to be a part of The Voice?
The project is running according to the purpose for which it was created. The concept is not a negative show, in contrast, it seeks to bring positive qualities and talents without trying to school the contestants and is based solely on vocal qualities.
What are you looking for as a judge on The Voice?
An unexpected, special voice that moves you. An instinctive reaction. Undeniable talent.
Have any of your songs been performed during an audition?
It is very gratifying to hear someone singing your songs. But it is difficult to judge because you're used to listening to the way one sings it. It is difficult to assess the performance of a song of yours when someone else is singing it.
The motive behind The Voice is that mentors find new talents. Who were your mentors?
Whitney Houston and Etta James, to name a few.
Has something funny happen behind the scenes with the other judges that you can share with us?
Lots of stuff! None that I want to mention. These are naughty boys, that we must keep behaved. We have a lot of fun.
What is your best memory of Mi Reflejo?
It was the first time that i was heard by my latin fans since my career had begin and to share that in a language that I love is amazing.
Youve mentioned that you want to record a second album in Spanish ... Is it possible? Or will you just include a couple of Spanish songs on your album in English ...
Yes, yes, yes! Spanish will always be a part of my music to some degree and I still have every intention of recording another album in Spanish.
What is it that you like the most about your Latin roots?, what do you admire from the culture?
I love the passion, fire, and deep love and pride you have for your culture. The Spanish language is beautiful.
Recently you were in Brazil, how was that experience?
Unbelievable!. I had a huge welcome! When I arrived to the airport I was greeted by thousands of my fans.
Do you have any plans to visit other Latin American countries?
All of them! My Latin fans are unbelievable!
What are your best memories of Latin America?
There is this incredible energy that i get from my fans there. Sometimes the concerts can be dangerous because the fans get so excited and out of control ending very attached to the barricade that protects the stage.
What music are you listening to these days?
Ive been listening to Lauryn Hill and Nina Simone, the music that inspires me.
Have you been reading any scripts for a possible second movie?
I have. I wanted to make another movie, but I'm focusing on my series, my team, and my music for now.
Let's talk about the new album, are you recording or writing any new material? Towards what direction is your creativity heading?
Yes, I am constantly writing and recording music. After last year, I've had a tremendous growth and gained much strength. I really want to share this in a very deep and honest way through my music.
You have recorded four albums in English, each one has produced hit singles in the last decade. What's it like with so many accomplishments and what motivates you as an artist to continue creating music?
Music is my passion and my love. Music is who I am and what I have been put on this earth to do.
My faves songs are The Voice Within and You Lost Me. Which one is the most personal?
The Voice Within was a song written when I was finally free to write and express my own thoughts and feelings at the end of the day. Very early in my life I had to rely on myself, so I always had to find my truth in me.
Would you like to do a duet with someone?
I always have a list that evolves and progresses. I enjoyed working with Jennifer Hudson lately. She is a divine girl with a super voice
What is your favorite movie? book?
The Sound of Music because it reminds me of my childhood. Also, Alice in Wonderland that was my favorite book growing up.
What other dreams do you still have to achieve?
I am someone who gives more than expected, I have a list of things I want to do that never ends. I am very focused on the here and now and try to live life spontaneously. If I had to make a list, would be learn to cook, continue to improve my Spanish, recording my album in Spanish, and possibly learn to drive. Can you believe I have not learn yet?
Would you someday write your autobiography?
Possibly, yes, for motivational reasons.
What has been the best moment that fame has brought to you, and the hardest?
The best moments are when I'm on tour. I feel like I really connect with my fans most passionate. The worst would be losing my personal freedom.
How do you balance so many projects while raising your son?
Each person finds their own balance that works for them too.
What advice would you give to those trying to enter the music industry and other branches of entertainment?
Be prepared to work hard. But if you're passionate and you can not see yourself doing something else, anything is possible. Surround yourself with people who support you, real people and try to find your own inner voice.
Britney Spears recently said she loves your song Woo-hoo, do you have a favorite song of hers?
I remember loving the work she had done with Moby. And her first single, Baby One More Time, was fantastic. A brilliant pop song.
Do you have daily rituals?
Wash my face and wear a moisturizer before bedtime. Having healthy skin is important to me.
How do you see yourself in five years?
It's hard to say. Still doing what I do. Making it bigger and better than ever. I think one gets better with age. I'll never stop doing what I love and finding new ways to explore my creativity.
Last question, what is your message for your fans?
First of all a big thank you! for being by my side throughout my career, and that theres much more to come, just wait for it.
