I now think it was a very good move of Gaga to make Born This Way completely different in term of sound to her previous records. Some people that weren't into her music may have found something different in her. Some fans didn't really loved it at the same level as her previous songs, but liked it though. But, if she kept doing songs that are alike, people would get bored (ie Ke$ha without shade) really fast.
But now, it seems that she's coming back to her roots with Judas and, just look at this thread, people are hungry for this type of music that made her so big. If the song is really what Rolling Stone and Popjustice have said about it, an evolution from her previous work but with many nods, people will eat it.
Now, we shall wait and see
