I don't think labels take talent too much into account anymore. Look at Charice. She flopped with Oprah's backing. Pretty much (note that this means there are exceptions) only R&B stars can sell by talent alone, and even then only if their songs are more organic (Monica, Sade, Marsha Ambrosius, Fantasia).

Uhm Carrie Underwood is one of the dullest bitches on the planet...and look at her success. Kelly Clarkson has strong vocals. JHud has strong vocals. Xtina and Pink have strong vocals. There is no reason why Interscope can't create a way for her to be successful and talented at the same time.

I just hope she takes her time and really makes a faultless plan.
