Britney covers U.S weekly
Britney Spears opens up about what she’s learned, life with her boys, and whether she’ll marry again.

If anyone needed a vacation, it was Britney Spears. The Grammy-winning pop star had spent months recording her seventh studio album, Femme Fatale; made promotional appearances on MTV, Good Morning America, and Jimmy Kimmel Live; and rehearsed long hours each day to perfect her performances. So on the weekend of April 1st, Spears, 29, sneaked away to Las Vegas with sons Preston, 5, and Jayden, 4, and boyfriend Jason Trawick, 39. On the agenda: a mommy – sons trip to see The Lion King at the Mandalay Bay and a low key dinner with Trawick and her boys at Nove Italiano, where the pair were in full on parent mode, says a witness “Britney was helping the boys with their pizza, and at one point Jason took them to the bathroom.” Adds a Spears family source “they have become a solid family. Britney loves that.”
Just a few years ago such a tame night in Sin city would have been unthinkable for Spears. In 2007 after nonstop partying and a wealth of erratic behavior Spear lost custody of of her beloved boys when their father, ex husband Kevin Federline intervened. Within months she had been involuntarily committed to a psychiatric hospital. In 2008 her dad Jamie took control of her affairs as legal co conservator, and the following year she began dating Trawick, then her agent at William Morris Endeavor Entertainment and a stabilizing force in her life. "He was one of the only people who stuck by her through everything. He was someone she felt she could be her true self with,” says the family source, who predicts they will wed. “It’s what they talk about and the direction they’re going in.” Adds a second source, “His biggest goal in life is to make her happy.”
Now, with her new album Femme Fatale tearing up the charts (the first single “Hold It Against Me” hit #1 on the Billboard hot 100 and the new track “Till The World Ends” continues to climb) Spears opens up to Us’ Melanie Bromley about music, motherhood, and getting married again.
Says the star, “I’ve never been happier!”
Congratulations on Femme Fatale! How did making this record compare to making your first …Baby One More Time?
I’m at such a different point in my life now than I was back then. I’m more mature and much more hands on now. I know exactly what I like and what I don’t like. I guess that can make the recording process pretty difficult, because I’m very particular about songs I put my voice on.
You’re a parent now, too. How has motherhood changed you?
It really puts life into perspective. You have to think about all your decisions so much more carefully, because they are affecting your kids too. My priorities have changed and I do everything for the boys. They remind me what life is about.
Tell Us about Preston and Jayden.
Jayden is the youngest and he might be the mama’s boy. He’s very outgoing, always making us laugh, and he’s very creative. Preston is definitely the big brother. He’s very independent. He’s really, really smart and thinks everything through.
What are they into these days?
Their new favorite thing is dressing up as different superheroes, and they’re just so cute! They especially love Batman and Spiderman. We love watching Disney movies together. I also love reading them Fancy Nancy books (a children’s series by Jane O’ Connor and Robin Preiss Glasser) before bed.
What do the boys think of your music?
They are my biggest fans. I make up songs and sing to them all the time. They like to watch me dance. In fact, they join in and do their own moves!
Will they get to see you in action on the tour?
They will be coming with me. I couldn’t go on tour without them! I’m always very busy when I’m on the road, but I make sure to have quality time with them every single day.
What’s your parenting style? And what about Jason’s?
With some things I’m strict and with other I’m easy going. I guess I’m right in the middle. Jason is amazing with the boys. They look up to him so much – they adore him. He’s their hero.
What else do you love about Jason?
We have such a great time together! He makes me laugh, and we are so comfortable being ourselves. We like to stay home, order in, watch movies, go to dinner with friends. And we love to get away for the weekend. Some of our favorite spots are Las Vegas, Hawaii, or Mexico.
Do you see yourself getting married again?
Maybe. Never say never!
THEIR LOVE HISTORY
The romance between Spears and Trawick has been five years in the making.
July 2006
Trawick (with seven month pregnant Spears) began working as her agent in 2006, when she was still wed to Kevin Federline. “Britney has liked Jason for a long time,” a source says. “She trusted him.”
May 2008
”The fact that they were great friends gave them a foundation for a solid relationship,” the source says of the two (still platonic in Costa Rica) “I made the first move!” she tells Us in early 2009.
November 2009
As the relationship grew, Trawick (with Preston in Australia) took on a father figure role. “Jason looks at those boys as his own,” says the source, adding that Trawick taught Jayden to ride a skateboard.
March 2010
One year in growing pains. “They have cooling off periods,” a pal said. In May, Spears and the agent ended their professional relationship to focus on the personal, but he returned to her team in 2011.
November 2010
Home for the holidays! Spears and Trawick spent Thanksgiving at her parents house in Kentwood, Louisiana. The next month, they headed to his folks’ place for Christmas.
February 2011
“Even though Jason has been staying with Britney for a while, they are referring to their new place as ‘our home,’” the source says of the 12.9 million Hidden Hills, California house they moved into in February.
Tour Mate Debate
Spears’ road trip is about to get even flashier. According to an insider, hip hop star Nicki Minaj is “more likely” joining the Femme Fatale tour which kicks off June 17 in Sacramento, California. Minaj would step in for Enrique Iglesias, who bowed out March 29. "He felt he would be over-shadowed” says the insider. (A source close to the iglesias camp says it wasn’t ego but the fact that “he’s already on a sold out tour”) An all girls line up is a better fit, adds the insider, because the theme will hinge on “The power of women. A third female may be added.” If the headliner’s tastes are a factor, that extra act could be one of Spears’ new favorite artists: Jessie J or rapper/singer Sabi!

"[Jason] was someone she felt she could be her true self with. [Marriage] is what they talk about and the direction they're going in," the insider says.
Whatever and whenever their nuptial plans, one thing is certain, Spears tells Us: "I've never been happier!"

This interview is short and sweet but also feels very robotic. Her team probably had heavy influence on the article.
