I liked the intro and its music. I liked the dying/fornicating animals. I liked that Wall.E inspired apocalyptic set. She looked gorgeous. And I liked the simplicity of it all.

I also like that, as the NY Times put it, Lady Gaga is inspiring women in pop to "try on new aesthetics."

Of course. It wouldn't be a work of Katy if there was no hypocrisy.

It's a 5-minute video. It doesn't require a plot and twists and conflict and surprises.

The only problem - and I've said this about Gaga's videos too - is that these mv directors fail to understand that they need to keep things moving. You only have 5 minutes to make your point - you can't afford to waste a second of it. Bad Romance understood that (probably because he was a filmmaker). Don't spend 3 of your 5 minutes on your star spinning in space.

She was hyping this saying she wasn't "playing it safe". The only thing I could see that fallen under this category was the ass shot. I don't think floating in the air could have been perceived as safe at any point.

And yes, Francis was amazing with Bad Romance. He also understood that concept with Slave 4 U, which I would argue is Britney's best video. I don't see why Gaga is so fickle with letting him direct Judas.

I totally agree with you Nicole and I love Lady GaGa but if I have to choose between which space video; the answer will Perry. Only because it is constructed to the point that is fluently made sense from beginning to end. Now don't get me wrong, BTW made sense but I just didn't get the space part. I would love the video of her behind a podium and start changing people's minds. However, it isn't what I expected and I guess the colors drawn to me on Katy Perry. LOL and I love how Lady GaGa did influenced artists to aesthetics.

I'm hoping he will still be working on it in some capacity. Just more behind the scenes so that it appears Gaga & Co. are directing.
