Dead at people think 300k is bad. These day a debut with 200k can be considered great. Moreover pop artists (with a few exception) never have big open week like Hip hop and Country. Brit used to debut with 500k, but at that time she got huge comeback hype, 2 successful singles and tons of promo. 300k is not bad at all.

300k the first week is a good number. Some people need to lower their standards.
Circus had more hype and it was released on December with 2 bigger hits than HIAM & TTWE.

I guess I'm wondering if Britney will have much longevity. She seems like one of those artists who are highly dependent on first week sales because sales after that are a crap shoot.

I feel like it wont have longevity
Don't hold this against me...but I don't think the album will sell more than like 1.3 million stateside (and that's being generous)

All of her sales this era have been front-loaded. Unless her next single is a smash, I can't see this album having much longevity on the charts.

Yeah, I've been thinking this for a minute and even mentioned that this album may not perform that well. This era just doesn't seem "full." Plus, Britney doesn't seem too into being competitive with the top female pop stars out right now (i.e Katy, GaGa, Rihanna, Adele, Ke$ha).

Adele isnt pop don't do that just so you can say she's one of the top artists right now.

What the hell is she then? Her music is considered Pop by the Grammys, radio, etc. Dance-pop isn't the only thing considered "Pop," which is a broad term anyway.

She's more of a folk/alternative/jazz mixture like a Sara Bareilles type. Pop isnt THAT broad. :darh100:

Ugh. Sara Bareilles is POP. Pop is a broad term and there are several variations of pop music.

Dead at people saying 300' when the predictions did not even mentioned it selling 300K. It said if things looked up it MIGHT get therem 3ight now it seems she will sell in the 270-290 range, which is decent. But will this outsell Circus?? More than likely not.

Forget about that.
You can take the word "pop" out of my statement and it would still hold weight.
Britney doesn't seem like she wants to compete with the top female artists of the game (i.e Katy, Rihanna, Adele, Ke$ha and GaGa). Happy?
