Now is the time to show that she can be versatile with her singles.
Even if she releases an underperforming non-dance single, it's better than not releasing one at all.
Because eventually she'll get too old for dance music, and then it will be too late to try to branch out.
Changing her aesthetic from happy Fame Gaga was a smart move in terms of longevity. Even if she lost some fans, in the long run it will pay off. There's nothing worse than doing the same thing over and over again until it gets old, and
then trying to change things up. Too late. She kind of changed things up sonically by releasing the darker BR...but now she needs to go further.
I've always liked your analogy of some girls careers being like Gaga doing JD for her whole career
