I don't think Carrie was as reserved as you are speaking of during her season. To me she had that country charm with the matching vocals and was loveable and had that IT factor Simon always talked about. She still acts the same now as she did on the show, a little more out there but she's still pretty to herself but knows how to have fun, release good singles, and sing amazing. Lauren actually reminds me of a mini Carrie this season.
I do think Carrie had more personality when she was on stage than Pia has shown, but ultimately Pia does have the makings to be an amazing artist. She can sing and her overall looks will get sales (cause she is sexy and sex sells). She just needs to come out a little more which she is from what I've seen.
