The first thing I thought about when I heard that she died was, quite simply, "Man, such a shame that we just lost one of the most gorgeous women to ever populate our world." Great actress, sure, but even better looking.
This world just got a little less beautiful.
I agree... and I also felt like she'd live forever. She was too big a personality to leave us. It's tragic, and she was too young--79.
A legend is gone. An icon. She was like the Angelina Jolie of her generation.

There is no "Liz Taylor" of today, really. She was one of the first larger-than-life celebrities. Although she was constantly followed and covered by the paps, she was always simply fascinating to the public. Her life is an eternal symbol of beauty, romance and glamor. Nobody is as interesting as she was... not anymore. And, obviously I wasn't even there for it--I just get that impression from my curious e-trips through the history of Hollywood.
I've been watching videos of her and other actors of the "Golden era of Hollywood" for 2 hours now. She was amazing, what a personality. I never knew she was so funny and down to earth.

I recommend anyone that enjoys this "era", to watch the vids of "What's My Line" on Youtube. Elizabeth Taylor, Bette Davis, Walt Disney, Salvador Dali (a must watch ), Ronald Reagan, etc. Pure royalty.
I'm crying right now. I didn't know her death would affect me so much, but I'm taking it very hard. She was definitely someone I looked up to growing up, but I'm so lucky she got to share her talent, beauty, humor, and philanthropy with us.
