I dunno about "hardly possible." It wasn't that rare for it to happen, it's just that you were one of the two biggest albums of the year if it did.
It still cracks me up that Celine Dion has two 30m albums (three if you attribute the success of the Titanic soundtrack to her, which you probably should).
But, still, yeah -- no way, no how. 30m then was more common than 10m now, which just goes to show how far the market's fallen off.
