So at first everyone hated the idea b/c they thought it would bomb, but now that it's a hit, how do you feel about Gaga having released the most gay-friendly major pop song of all time?

Not to get corny, but as a gay man, I'm appreciative more than anything.

Happy she chose it for the first single and even happier it smashed like it did (continues to do so).

Truth be told, though I like the song itself, I'm still not too keen on the idea of an "important! message!" song.

On the one hand, I think some of the lyrics could have been done with more sophistication, on the other, I have to give her credit for being so brazen and in-your-face about it.

It's not my preference, but I can still see the value in that approach rather than hemming and hawing and hiding behind ambiguity/metaphor.

Seriously though, I detested the lyrics when I first saw them and dreaded hearing the song, because I thought I'd hate it. After seeing the lyrics, as a straight male I worried about whether I would be proud to dance or sing to it without getting strange looks from people in school.

When I heard it, I was disappointed at first. It grew on me, though, and now I love it. It just took that time to grow. The Grammys sealed it for me. I proudly dance and sing along now, though. It's really not too in-your-face-gay, if you get me. All-in-all, I think it's fabby
