Dr. Luke did not win last year for AOTY and Producer of the Year, most likely with the voters waiting to award him for something more worth and versatile, letting him push himself (which he did with Femme Fatale).
Gaga already has AOTY two straight years, voters are very fickle and they may not want to nominate her for 3 years in a row and spread the love. It's happened with both Norah Jones and Alicia Keys (Grammy darlings).
I don't think Beyonce will be a factor for some reason. Kanye hasn't had a hit and needs one, his album will probably be forgotten come deadline...
U2/Coldplay depends on album.

Norah Jones and A.K. are no longer Grammy darlings and haven't been for years. As long as Gaga is one, she'll get a nom. LOL @ Beyonce not being a factor. You're right that Kanye won't be nominated given his history with the Grammys but they're still not nominating Britney.

It's still early, but Britney SO FAR looks like a strong contender for an AOTY nomination.

Ridiculous. *Strong* contender on what basis? Look at previous AOTY nominees and most, if not all, have a very strong input in the song-writing and producing. I have always been a huge fan of Britney, but she isn't a strong contender in the eyes of the Grammys, because she is, by definition, a singer. She isn't an artist. And the Grammys reward artists.

This is laughable. If GaGa is worthy of a 3rd nomination, she will get one. Beyonce won 6 Grammys and one night... To think she won't factor is just silly. I'd say at the minute, Britney's chances of a nomination would be in the 100/1 range in terms of betting odds. They haven't favoured her in the past and, judging by her recent effort, there is no reason to change that...
...Baby and Oops! were *amazing* pop albums and deserved recognition. Femme Fatale just won't be at the level of those...

+1 to everything you said. Some would even argue that Britney isn't even a singer...but that's a whole other argument There is no way in hell Femme Fatale will get an Album of the Year Grammy nomination. I'm sorry, I like some songs on the album and its pretty solid, but there is clearly some delusion going on if you think it's Grammy-nomination worthy.

She is NOT a strong contender. Whether she deserves to be or not is another question entirely.

No, but a Best Dance/Electronic album nom is a definite possibility.

This. The fact that Britney didn't have much to do with the album doesn't take away from the fact that the album is quality. This albums merit is the fact that it is insanely well produced and very consistent. Artist involvement is obviously important, but that doesn't mean the producers don't deserve recognition for their superior work.

'Fatale' is better than both of those records combined. It will likely receive better reviews than both of them too.

This is true, but the perception that she's a puppet with no active involvement in the creative process (true or not, that's the perception) certainly hurts her album's chance at getting nominated.

Absolutely!!!
People are going to complain but whatever, I follow the Grammys so I'm not just farting predictions. Teenage Dream and THE E.N.D. were trashed, but Femme Fatale is actually getting a lot of love. Remember that the Grammys roll on their own, they don't follow what people want or Metacritic scores.
There's always a trend that once they spoil a certain artist with a lot of nominations and rewards, they stop giving them. The Grammys like to reward "un-baity" artists (such as Madonna) when it is their due. If anything, they might feel that Britney's time is now (because it inevitable anyway that she is going to get one someday) and reward her the nomination.
Either way, she's the clear front-runner for Best Dance/Electronic Album and Best Dance Recording.
ETA: Also, she won for "Toxic" which she did not write, so it is CLEAR that they WILL reward her when she is deserving. It also doesn't hurt that she is campaigning this album as her best work ever.

It likely won't be nominated. I'm just arguing that just because it has her name on, doesn't mean it should automatically be disqualified.

We shall see I guess. Grammy boards I go to with members of all music tastes have said that this will be the album that will get her the nomination, and if she doesn't, she probably never will...

Toxic won for Best Dance Recording, which as I said is really the only category that she has a chance at winning.
Best Dance Recording and Album of the Year are not even remotely comparable in the least.
