Katrina cost 80+Billion dollars to put it in perspective. It will most likely cost Japan more than that considering big cities(as in more on the level of Boston+Chicago) were hit instead of just the infrastructure of the rural south and New Orleans.

Yeah, I didn't really no the exact amount so I just put more then 10 billion dollars... but the post that I replied to said that Japan doesn't need that much money and was talking about less then 100 million dollars in aid
