1. I'll be surprised if "King of Limbs" is nominated for AOTY. I don't think it'll get past Alt noms. It's a good album, but it's not amazing for Radiohead standards - def not "In Rainbows" calibur.

2. I love REM, but we're not in 1992.

3. I doubt Coldplay will be out in time; same w/ Bey.

4. Elbow has never been nominated for anything in America.

5. The Strokes aren't getting a nom for AOTY.

6. Kate Bush doesn't have enough mainstream American prominence.

7. Adele has already stolen the Winehouse thunder.

Ah, arguably the only redeeming aspect of the digital era -- the ability to accumulate impressive-sounding worldwide record sales in a relatively short period of time.

I reckon they will, and Adele has not stolen Winehouse's thunder. You never know about the rest, they could release masterpieces, noone ever expected Arcade Fire.

I don't because TF's total sales benefitted immensely from the re-release.

Yeah, but in AOTY, you only generally get one alt rock nom. IF Radiohead gets nominated, they'll get that spot.

Speak Now, 21, BTW, and MBDTF will all get noms. That fifth spot is really the only thing up in the air at the moment.

SN is not a lock for a nomination, IMO. I think Fearless had made much more of an impact up to this point.

And, unfathomable as it may seem, if Kanye does get a new album out this summer it's possible that he suffers from vote splitting or that MDBTF somehow ends up (regrettably) being lost in the shuffle.

I don't know whether Sale el Sol will have any AOTY impact, it was a really good album!
